The Zoomies

We’re often asked where the name “Zoom Room” came from. Our indoor dog training gym is a room where dogs can get out their “zoomies” in a positive way. Don’t know what zoomies are? You’re about to find out. They’re a sure sign that your puppy is ready for bed.

Around 7 to 8 p.m., you will likely see your puppy explode with a huge burst of very naughty energy. They may zip back and forth across the living room at full speed. They may start nipping at your toes and generally acting feisty in ways you hadn’t really seen before.

You might think this is a sign that they need more exercise. It isn’t. This is the zoomies. Adult dogs get the zoomies for various reasons, but usually it’s because they have excess energy to burn off. But for a puppy at 7 p.m., it is a sign they are utterly exhausted and ready to crash. Let them burn it off a bit, then put them in their crate.
